Canes Come to Town
The Stanley Cup and some Carolina Hurricanes are visiting the legislature today.
I’m still recovering from the Carolina Hurricanes victory parade over the weekend, but the excitement won’t stop. I’ll back on the sports beat today as the Canes make their way to the General Assembly. I’ll be hoping to perform a signature verification with select players to ensure they are in fact registered to play for the Canes.
Meanwhile, congratulations to the UNC Tar Heels baseball team on a phenomenal season and impressive run at the College World Series. The Heels lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the CWS Finals last night.

I was among the estimated 180,000 who flocked to downtown Raleigh on Saturday. And yes, I was able to get a photo with the Stanley Cup! While there were many personal highlights for me, let me share a few that may matter most to you:
Tom Dundon, owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, told reporters he hopes the team’s success will bolster the prospects of the city landing a Major League Baseball team.
